Accredited by the Milton H. Erickson Foundation in Phoenix, Arizona (USA) since 1990, the Milton H. Erickson Institute of Montreal (IMHEM) is dedicated to the training of professionals in clinical hypnotherapy and to the promotion and advancement of Ericksonian therapies.
Milton H. Erickson was a therapist that is well known for his contributions to modern psychotherapy, and more specifically to therapeutic hypnosis, as well as for his ingenious methods for eliciting patient change. He developed a highly innovative new hypnosis method based on a creative therapeutic relationship that enhances connection with personal inner resources. His powerful brief therapy techniques such as symptom prescription, reframing, and use of anecdotes and metaphors can be incorporated in many psychotherapeutic approaches.
In the dynamic workshops presented by the Milton H. Erickson Institute of Montreal, you will understand the logic of Ericksonian strategies and learn how to apply them to specific clinical problems. You will learn how to implement Ericksonian principles and techniques such as utilization, permissiveness and indirection to induce therapeutic hypnotic trance. Hypnosis enhances and deepens the effects of psychotherapy and body-mind interventions like the management of pain or the treatment of anxiety, depression, sleep and post-traumatic disorders.
Our training program is made in such a way that you will be able to induce therapeutic hypnotic trances by the end of the first course. Our teaching methods are varied and include lectures, demonstrations (live and on video), supervised workshops, big group discussions with feedback periods, as well as small groups activities. Reading and homework are also given between each course.
